John Antony Lennon is a winner of the Debussy Trio Music Foundation's 2004 Biennial International Composition Competition for his composition Serpent for harp, flute and viola. Since then Mr. Lennon has made seven alternative instrumental versions of the work. Recording of the original Serpent by The Debussy Trio is on its CD of American composers, Look Ahead. Lennon has been commissioned by the: John F. Kennedy Chamber Players, Library of Congress, Boston Symphony Chamber Players, Fromm Foundation, and Kronos Quartet. Awards received from: Rome Prize, Guggenheim, Friedheim, plus fellowships at Tanglewood, Yaddo, McDowell, Bogliasco Foundation, and Rockefeller Center at Bellagio. He is a professor of composition at Emory University.
